PlaneTalk - the DVD
PlaneTalk guitar instruction DVD is an hour
long. I talk and play you through the exposition of my 'TRICK', the
visualization technique that is the subject of
PlaneTalk, the book. The
basic principle behind the simple visualization technique described in
the book is reviewed, then I look at all chord flavors, how to approach
them melodically, then simple 2 and 3 chord changes, then on to more
complex changes. I guarantee here and now that if you're
still wondering what the trick is to having the whole fretboard at your
disposal at all times, this video will dispel all mystery.
A
project that even a few years ago would have cost tens of thousands of
dollars in man-hours to edit together (I worked away 18 hours a day for
weeks and weeks), I was able to do in my own time, at
home at my own computer. To
the right is
a blank version of the format: the graphical fretboard at the
bottom of the frame follows the live action above it while the voice
over explains it all in plain English. By anchoring my guitar for the
live shots, I was able to overlay the 'trick' onto
the fretboard.
I had to spend an agonizing afternoon crouched under my
poor old Gibson J50, which had been BlueTacked to a couple of kitchen
stools, to get this shot. My
right knee still aches from it, but believe me, this angle, coupled with
the graphic fretboard where you can watch the music move around, supported
by the voice over... what can I say? You will never look at the guitar
in the same way again, nor will you ever get lost again.
